In 2002 Fresca began the second wave of Spanish imports
which has brought fine Ibizans here in recent years.
She is the first Ibizan from the respected hunting and
show kennel “Poca Roba” to be registered
with the AKC and is directly from active hunting parentage
going back many generations. The Poca Roba dogs preserve
through decades of careful selection the type and structure
of the Ibizan Hound used in the purest way: the hunter
with the dog alone without use of the gun. The integration
into my breeding program of such dogs with other lines
seen in these pages selected for health, type, and soundness
will greatly assist me in my responsibility to breed
Ibizan Hounds of quality and true to their origins.
Fresca is a well balanced, moderate bitch of commendable
soundness in movement and temperament, possessing
the strong yet easy gait desired in a working hunting
hound. She casually trots about with a log from the
woodpile for entertainment. What a girl! A successful
rabbit hunter, she thoughtfully removes the feet
and fur before delivering them to me intact otherwise
but, alas, not alive.
Above: Fresca at one year. Fresca is a calm, easy
keeper at home. Her gentle and tolerant temperament
makes her my first choice for introducing young puppies
to an adult.
